This ted-talk is one of my favorite videos.
Itay Talgam uses the metaphor of an orchestra and conductors to explain how different leadership styles can impact a team’s performance and the overall outcome. He is very humble and uses humor as a tone.
I used to share this video as part of leadership development training when I was back in Central East Europe.
In today’s world and the future, the most admired leaders create a space where all diverse voices to be heard. They create space for all different skills to shine, and they bring the best out of everyone in their team.
“The joy is about enabling other people’s stories to be heard at the same time. ” (Itay Talgam)
The outcome, or any result, is not about the leader him or herself. It is about the team and what they bring forward. They become a magnet and engage not only their team but also others, so success belongs to many people.
A leader also allows their team to make mistakes. They see this as part of the development experience, support for those not keeping up. They will provide stretched opportunities on the job for the team members to continue to develop.
On top, they recognize the outstanding achievements of the team members in front of everyone.
Which leaders inspired you in your career and helped you become the best version of yourself? And are you one of those leaders who inspire and bring the best version of your team members?
Who was or will be inspired by you?
