We have a long way to go…
I did not understand the real diversity challenge and what is happening in the US before relocating to the US. And I still don’t know what it feels to be African American. I have never been into African American women or man’s shoes. And, therefore, it will never be possible to understand fully.
In today’s times, I’ve thought about what is going around the world with COVID19, a virus that does not know any border, any age, any religion. Today’s times should bring humanity and help us to act and think as a whole.
Our commonalities should be bringing us together, so as well our differences should be making us stronger, making something bigger and better. Yet it still keeps us far apart.
There is so much hatred out there. My heart just broke every day, watching the news. I become paralyzed. I mourned for George Floyd’s death, and I grieved for many other innocent lives.
We have a dream to go to Mars, live in other earth-like planets. Science and technology keep us moving forward.
Yet we have a long way to go with this mindset, with this hatred. And we don’t deserve it yet, because we are still so much behind.
I always say that life itself is a journey and an experience.
And what do we learn from these times?
I still want to be hopeful; I still want to see the light in the tunnel…
If we would be in a time capsule and go and see 100 years from today, what will be our children, grandchildren tell us about what is happening today in this crazy world… what will be the authors write about it or movies show.
What can we learn, change, what can we learn to make things right? What can we learn to change our perspectives and lenses…? I want to believe that there had to be something good born out of the chaos.
One day we will be able to understand…
